Kent Opens Doors to Host FFA Students at Kent Conference Center

MUSCATINE, Iowa (February 13, 2020) — Kent Corporation hosted the Southeast Iowa FFA District’s 2020-2021 District Officer Candidate Interviews on Friday, February 7, 2020.

“We appreciate the facilities that Kent and GPC have provided for our use,” said Adam Crews, Southeast Iowa FFA District Advisor on Friday, February 7. “Bridging the gap between FFA and the agricultural industry is important. The use of the facilities today provides a professional setting where students can develop a vision of what a professional agricultural career would look like. Kent and GPC are showing they believe in the future of agriculture and support youth leadership in agriculture.”

Nearly 40 FFA (Future Farmers of America) members from across southeast Iowa participated in the interview process hosted at the Kent Conference Center located at 1600 Oregon St. in Muscatine, Iowa. Over a period of several hours, candidates completed an FFA knowledge test, a 7-on-1 personal interview, and a 10-minute round of 2-on-1 interviews.

“It’s a natural fit for Kent to open our doors to this educational event that supports the FFA’s mission of preparing its members for leadership and careers in the science, business and technology of agriculture,” said Carol Reynolds, Corporate Spokesperson for Kent Corporation. “Kent certainly is proud to have many employees who have great memories of being involved in the FFA, and beyond that, we are a company that understands the purposeful and rewarding career opportunities that exist today in ag-business.”

The following FFA Chapters were represented at Kent Corporation/Grain Processing Corporation: Agri-Power, Eddyville, Belle Plaine, Calamus Wheatland, Central Lee, Davis County, DeWitt Central, Easton Valley, Lone Tree, Louisa-Muscatine, Marengo, Muscatine, North Mahaska, North Scott, Northeast, Goose Lake, Pekin, Riverside, Van Buren Harmony, Wapello, Washington, Wilton and Williamsburg.

FFA district officers coordinate, plan and implement career development events, leadership conferences, and the District convention; they also conduct chapter visits to motivate FFA members to become more involved in FFA. Those elected will be the next group of leaders for the Southeast Iowa FFA District.
