Muscatine, Iowa has held a United Way Day of Caring event for the past 10 years. Kent Corporation has great participation from their employees and this year was no exception. Sixty employees volunteered their time for a morning or afternoon session. In 2016, the Day of Caring included over 75 service projects around the city of Muscatine. Some of the jobs employees worked on included: helping an elderly person with fall clean-up, painting at the MCSA building, mulching at Kent Stein Park, yard work at the Musser Museum, painting at the Boy Scout Camp, and helping at the Flickinger Learning Center.
The Day of Caring is just one of the many ways employees can volunteer their time with the United Way. This past summer, Kent Corporation’s interns and co-ops committed their time to helping serve lunch at the Salvation Army every Wednesday through June and July. It was a great experience for the students and the United Way Summer lunch program served over 16,000 meals during an 8 week period to children under the age of 18.
