This month the United Way hosted its sixth annual “Day of Caring” to encourage residents to volunteer their time and help out their neighbors. Kent Corporation was the chief financial sponsor, and many employees turned out to donate their time.
The mission of the United Way is to “improve lives and build community by engaging individuals and mobilizing collective action.” This is a mission that Kent Corporation has been honored to take part in.
Nearly 500 volunteers participated in projects from electrical work to carpentry throughout Muscatine. The United Way estimates that the event touched upwards of 2,000 lives. Beyond assisting with project costs, the financial contributions from Kent also helped cover the costs for t-shirts and lunches for the volunteers.
“We have always made it a priority to give back to the community at Kent Corporation,” said Rich Dwyer, Kent Corporation Senior Vice President, “It felt great to be involved and help the community in such a practical way through this initiative.”
