Hagerstown, MD – AFIA (American Feed Industry Association) representatives recently presented the Runner-up “Feed Mill of the Year” award to personnel at the Kent Nutrition Group (KNG) manufacturing plant in Hagerstown, Maryland. The Feed Mill of the Year program recognizes overall excellence in feed manufacturing operations in the areas of employee safety, quality, regulatory compliance, efficiency, and feed safety.
The KNG plant at Hagerstown was constructed in 1997 and has a staff of twenty-two employees.
“This is a great achievement and much appreciation goes out to our hard-working staff members who have made this opportunity possible,” said plant manager Jeremy Ruckman.
According to Keith Epperson, AFIA Vice President of Manufacturing and Training, ninety feed facilities placed applications this year. He explained that the expanded emphasis now being placed on feed safety by the industry has made the selection process for the award extremely competitive.
