This month, the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship held the first annual Iowa Agricultural Leader’s Dinner, funded by Kent Corporation and 20 other sponsors. Among the more than 300 attendees were state legislators, Iowa FFA, Iowa business and agricultural leaders, and farmers from across the state.
The gathering was focused on the farming culture of Iowa and the many benefits agriculture has to offer the state. Speeches from Governor Branstad, Lt. Governor Reynolds, and Secretary of Agriculture Bill Northey focused on the farming culture of our state and the important role Iowa farmers play in feeding the world. Additional speakers included Orion Samuelson, farm broadcaster for WGM radio and host of U.S. Farm Report and Iowa FFA President, Steven Brockshus.
Secretary Northey hopes to make the Iowa Agricultural Leaders Dinner an annual event to recognize the people that continue to make Iowa’s agricultural sector one of the best in the world.
